so let me get this straight ... i am a little off due to all this flu medication i'm taking ...
the former alcoholic, draft dodger, and all around nice guy who's president ... thinks its immoral for me to get married ...
gee with guys like bush from texas is there any reason i would want to marry a guy??!!?? (wait wasnt his wife implicated in DWI hit and run back in their wild college days) damn yalies. he's probably nervous that his college age daughter with a known drinking problem has already wandered her way into Charlies.
i'm not going to cry or whine that the president isn't pro gay. i mean he would be saving me alot of alimony money given my past track record of relationships.
presidents are not always the sharpest cookies in the box. clinton didnt think oral sex was sex. bush sr had a vendatta against brocolli. reagen consulted psyhics. ford's wife has her own rehab center. and yeah so on and so forth.
the climate of the people in the charge of the government are not ready for change. just as it took alot to get segregation laws repelled. it will (pardon the pun) take an act of congress to get change that the homosexual population wants.
(tanget: therein lies the problem ... african ameerican population, heterosexual population, latin american population, homosexual population. we like to seperate ourselves don't we??)
society as a whole has changed. its evident in the entertainment industry and to an extant mainstream america in regards to partner benefits and the states that recogize same sex couples.
however the political machinery of this country still belongs in the hands of older white men and women. and the guilt of that lies in our hands. how many of us actually vote and how many of us are willing to take our needs to the public in terms of running for office?
count of hands please.
unlike blacks and women who were denied the right to vote. we HAVE it. we need to use it. that battle was already faught for us. we need to use the power that Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Martin Luther King got us to this point. It's up to us to finish the fight.
